    Kaziranga, the house of one-horned rhinoceros is a famous National Park of India. It is situated in the state Assam. World’s two-third of the one-horned rhinoceros are staying here. Still people think that one-horned rhinoceros existed in Jurassic-era, but they are wrong and they should take a trip to Kaziranga to see the one-horned rhinoceros. It is one of the heritage sites. According to the recent survey almost 2,413 rhinoceros are there in the park.

    The park covers an area of 429.93 Sq. Km. The park is located within two districts of Assam namely Golghat and Nagaon.

    Apart from rhinoceros the park is the home of elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp dear, tiger etc. In the year 2006, Kaziranga was declared as the Tiger Reserve. The park is famous for its good population if animals. The park is the house of many flora and Fauna. Every year the place is drenched by the flood water of river Brahmaputra. This affects the wildlife a lot.

    Exploring the wildlife at Kaziranga

    Here one can see mainly four types of vegetation. This happens due to the difference in altitude between the eastern and western areas of the park. During winter season one can see many migratory birds. Different types of trees like Indian gooseberry, cotton, elephant apple is seen here. Variety of aquatic flora can be seen in the lakes, ponds and river shores of the park. Sloth bear. Leopard, gibbon are the faunas found here.

    Every year the park remains closed from 1st, May to 31st, October for the visitors. So, November to April is the best time to visit Kaziranga National Park. For promoting the wildlife tourism, the park authority has organized safari tours. There are different time slots for the safari. Nearby many places are there to roam like Guwahati, Addabarie tea estates etc. One must visit this place.

    The best season of Kaziranga National Park are between November and April.

    How to reach Kaziranga

    By Air: Jorhat Airport, 96 kilometers from Kaziranga National Park, is the closest airport. Else tourists can also deplane at Tezpur Airport, 59.9 kilometers from the Kaziranga National Park.

    By Train: Furkating Junction railway station, hardly a two-hour drive from Kaziranga National Park, is the nearest railway station.

    By Road:To travel by road, firstly go to Jorhat or Guwahati (240 km) and then take (a cab or a bus to reach the park.
