    Badami formerly known as Vatapi, is a town in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka.  Rock cut structural temples are the main attractions of this place. It is selected as one of the heritage cities by HRIDAY. The beautifully structured temples and forts attract tourists to visit this place. A number of annual temple festivals are celebrated in the towns near to Badami.

    Badami is well known for the amazing rock-cut cave temples. These temples are carved from red colour stones. Four cave temples are located at Badami. Out of the four temples, three temples are dedicated to Hindu gods and One is Jain temple. It is one of the best photography destination of India.     According to Puranas the asura Vatapi was killed in this area. So, this place is referred as Vatapi. This place is founded by the Chalukyas. The rock cut caves of Badami is one of the most scenic structure. Another attraction of Badami is Bhutnatha temple. This temple’s structure is something different. This temple is the mix of Dravidian and Jain style architecture. Sunset at Badami is probably the most romantic sunset of India.
