Little Rann of Kutch is a salt slough located in Kutch district of Gujarat. The word Rann means salty desert. During the trip one can see the salty desert here. The Little Rann is spread over 4953 sq km. The place is spread in the five districts Surendranagar, Banaskantha, Patan, Kutch, Rajkot respectively. It is one of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries of India. It is an interesting place for the naturalists and the environmental specialists. This place is a best destination for the wildlife photographers.
The place is famous for the Indian wild ass known as Khur. This place is declared as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary. Apart from Indian Wild ass this place is also home for other mammals like Indian wold, desert fox, nilgai etc. Apart from these one can see the migratory birds here during the winter season. This place is nominated to be a biosphere reserve. There are 364 hills, which rise across the Ran. During monsoon these hills become island and provide food and shelter to the animals.
Bajana creek is the birdwatching point here. The best time for bird watching is early morning or late afternoon. So, the birdwatchers will get chance to capture the best views. Sunset is great here. One can go for the camel safari which are being provided by the tour operators. The park is open all over the year, but the best time to visit is October to February. For birdwatching November to February is the best time as the visitors can see the migratory birds during this time. The park houses 93 types of species. Salt panning activity is done by people, which the forest department want to discourage. It is really funny and excitement to watch these creatures and visiting such a nice place.

By Train: Dhrangadhra is 45 k.m. and all kutch express train stoppage situated around 18 k.m from the Sanctuary and 130 k.m. from Ahmadabad railway station. The place is; connected to all the major cities in the region.
By Road: Dhrangadhra is well connected with other important places in the Govt. State by the State Transport buses, as well as luxury coaches operated by private companies.
