    Bhuj, the city of kings and empires is located in the Indian state Gujarat. The city is well known for its interesting history and historical places.     Ancient history of Bhuj

    The city got its name from the Sanskrit word Bhujang, which means snake. Bhujangis worshipped as the snake god here. The city was founded in the year of 1510 by Maharaohumir and in the year 1549 it became the capital of Kutch by the ruler Rao Khengarji. Bhuj was the independent princely state during the British rule and after the independence of India it became the part of India. The city houses many monuments, havelis, which are the standing example of the rich history of the city.
